Donnelly Training Area(DTA)는 알래스카 페어뱅크(Fairbanks)에서 남동쪽으로 107 miles 떨어져 있으며, Fort Greely의 서쪽에 위치해 있다. 남쪽으로는 알래스카 산맥이 있고 북, 동, 서쪽에는 넓은 평지대로 되어 있다.

도넬리 훈련장(DTA)의 남서쪽 가장자리는 가파른 고지대와 깊은 강바닥으로 나누어지는 고산 환경과 저지대 및 하천 환경이 특징이다. 북쪽 경계는 저지대 숲과 습지가 특징이다.

DTA가 설치된 경계 면적은 총 674,128 에이커 이다. 이중에서 141,559 에이커의 ‘연속충격지역(Contiguous dudded impact area)’을 포함한 655,191 에이커가 훈련에 가용하다. DTA는 8개의 ‘LIGHT maneuver training areas’ - 567,734 에이커와 7개의 ‘HEAVY maneuver training areas’ - 87,457 에이커의 기동 훈련 구역들로 구성되어진다.

※ 참고 : Impact Areas의 3종류 Dudded, NonDudded, Tempo Dudded : There are three types of impact areas used as a baseline requirement at each training level—duded, nondudded, and temporarily dudded:
A dudded, dedicated impact area has permanently delineated boundaries normally used to contain nonsensitive, high explosive, military munitions. A high hazard impact area is a permanently designated impact area used to contain sensitive, high explosive military munitions and is normally delineated within a dedicated impact area where access is restricted due to explosive safety hazards.
A nondudded impact area has designated boundaries used to contain nonexplosive military munitions. These areas are primarily composed of small arms range safety fans and are available for maneuver when not used for military munitions training.
A temporarily dudded impact area is primarily used to contain nonexplosive military munitions that may be temporarily used to contain nonsensitive, high explosive, military munitions. A temporarily dudded impact area should be capable of being cleared for maneuver.

 

Dudded 와 Nondudded 충격지역(impact areas)은 DTA의 중앙 부분에 있다. 이 지역들은 실무장 사격장(active live fire ranges)이며 기동 훈련이나 다른 용도에는 적합하지 않다.

2016년 10월 14일  RED FLAG-Alaska 17-1 훈련중 로얄 뉴질랜드 C-130 항공기의 도넬리 강습착륙모습

 

 

 

 

2016년 10월 14일 미공군 C-130J Super Hercules 항공기가 Donnelly Landing Zone에서 Red Flag-Alaska 17-1 훈련에 참여하고있다.

사진은 강습착륙하여 뒤문(Ramp Door)을 사용하여 화물인 차량을 하역하고있다. 엔진을 정지하지 않고 화물을 적하역시키는 ERO(Engine Running Operation)을 하고 있으며, 날개의 4개 엔진의 Auto Feather기능이 있는 C-130J model의 가변피치프로펠러가 계속돌고 있는 모습을 볼 수있다.

 

 

 

 

2009년 8월 24일 "Arctic Response"훈련에 참가중인 미공군 517대대의 C-17 항공기의 Dirt Runway Operation.

 

 

 

2009년 8월 24일

Fort Richardson에서 출발한 120명의 병사들이 도넬리에 침투하였다.
